RateKite

Privacy policy

What data RateKite processes when you visit the site, why, and what your rights are. Last updated: 6 October 2026.

Who is responsible

The controller of your personal data is Nikita Kočkur, who operates RateKite as a private individual, based in the Czech Republic. Contact: info@ratekite.com.

What we collect

RateKite has no accounts, no sign-up, no forms and no wallet connection. We do not ask for your name, email address or any financial information, and we use no analytics, advertising or tracking tools.

Server logs. When you load a page, our web server records the requested URL, the time, the response status, your browser's user agent and the referring page. Your IP address is shortened before it is written (IPv4 to the first two blocks, IPv6 to the first 32 bits), so the log never contains a full IP address. Cookie and authorization headers are not logged. We use these logs to keep the site running, investigate errors and block abuse.

One preference cookie. If you change the display currency, the site stores your choice in a first-party cookie named tr_currency for one year, so prices appear in that currency on your next visit. It holds only a currency code such as "EUR", is never used for tracking and is not set unless you pick a currency. You can delete it in your browser at any time.

Legal basis

We process server logs on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The currency cookie is strictly necessary to provide a setting you asked for, so it does not require consent.

How long we keep it

Server logs are kept in a rotating log of limited size and are overwritten automatically as new entries arrive; they are not archived. The currency cookie expires after one year.

Who processes it for us

The site runs on servers of Amazon Web Services (AWS Lightsail). AWS processes the server logs on our behalf under its Data Processing Addendum, which includes the EU Standard Contractual Clauses for any transfer outside the EU.

Market data is fetched by our server from CoinGecko, GeckoTerminal, the European Central Bank and, when configured, Helius (see data sources). Your browser does not connect to these providers and they receive no data about you. We do not sell, rent or share personal data with anyone else.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction or erasure of your personal data, restriction of processing, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Because IP addresses in our logs are shortened, we usually cannot link a log entry to you. Write to info@ratekite.com and we will reply within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; in the Czech Republic that is the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů).

Changes to this policy

If we change how data is processed, we will update this page and the date at the top. See also our terms of use.
